Changes to Chelmsford bin collections

Updates to waste and recycling collection routes mean no printed calendar
Chelmsford City Council is updating its kerbside bin collection routes to help ensure residents continue to receive the best possible waste and recycling service as the city grows and more homes are added to existing collection rounds.
While this work is underway, the city council won’t be issuing printed recycling calendars. The new collection routes are currently being reviewed, with changes expected to be introduced in early 2027.
Around 10% of households may see a change to their collection day, although it is not yet known which addresses will be affected. There are no plans to change how often collections take place or what materials are collected. The only potential change is the collection day or round.
Residents can still check their collection days online at any time, ensuring they always have access to the most up-to-date information. Simply visit Chelmsford City Council’s bins and recycling page to view your collection schedule. Alternatively, download the free Loci app to receive collection reminders straight to your phone.
