Preparing for Flooding
In light of recent weather patterns and the increasing risk of flooding, the government is taking proactive measures to support residents in safeguarding their homes and communities; highlighting the potential threats and how to prepare in advance for minimising the impact of flooding.
Residents can access valuable resources to check for potential flooding within the next five days, sign up for timely flood warnings via phone, text, or email, and assess their long-term flood risk from various sources, including rivers, the sea, surface water, and groundwater. This is provided to ensure that individuals have the most relevant information based on their location.
The government encourages those to develop comprehensive flood plans—whether personal, for their communities, or for their businesses. Keeping these plans accessible, along with other vital documents and supplies, is critical in the event of a flood.
